Presenting ARIA, the first of a new series of monumental sculptures by Mauricio Rodriguez Anza coming to Houston this year.

The VIVIANNE FALCO GALLERY, which opened its latest exhibition last Friday, features a curated selection of objects designed and produced by MAURICIO RODRIGUEZ ANZA between 2015 and 2019 in REVISIONS.

REVISIONS is a solo exhibition by Mauricio Rodriguez-Anza, presenting a curated selection of works created between 2015 and the present.
In contrast to “Narratives”—a previous exhibition that explored diverse approaches to the creative process and the interconnected development of various series—”Revisions” focuses on individual, stand-alone pieces, each selected for its unique conceptual or formal significance.
Highlights of the exhibition include “Itsi”, a sculpture originally envisioned at large scale for installation in Lake Cuitzeo, Michoacan, and the limited-edition chairs “115” and “Doria” chaise longue, both making their debut in the United States.

The exhibition NARRATIVES, at VIVIANNE FALCO GALLERY, makes available to collectors and the general public a selection of work created over the course of 45 years by MAURICIO RODRIGUEZ ANZA.

ALLIED PROGRAM INTERRUPTED
Originally scheduled for installation between April and June 2020, the intervention project involving four historic buildings in Mexico City faced an indefinite halt due to pandemic-related measures.
The program involved temporary installations and large-format sculptures by MAURICIO RODRIGUEZ ANZA in several iconic buildings in the historic center of Mexico City: Palacio de Mineria, Museo Palacio de la Escuela de Medicina, Palacio de Autonomia, and Antigua Escuela de Contadores. This initiative aimed to enhance the visual landscape of these historic sites while fostering a contemporary dialogue with the city’s rich cultural heritage. Unfortunately, the project was indefinitely suspended leaving the anticipated artistic transformations unrealized.

ALLIED / MEXICO CITY
ALLIED / MEXICO consists of a series of simultaneous interventions in public spaces in Mexico City and is part of a global program of similar interventions in other cities of Mexico and the United States. The proposal seeks to expand the dialogue between public space and the built environment within contemporary discourse; all based on the iconographic language of Mauricio Rodríguez Anza.
Since the early 80’s, Rodríguez Anza practiced with a complex syncretism between the designed object and architecture in different contexts and formats starting with a series of structural and scale exercises that include installations, objects of different scales, as well as the conversion and integration of specific architectural components. From there, he created new dialogs based on both emotional interventions and practical solutions. These elements include the implementation of porticos and additional components in support of a more precise implementation of the program.
The selection of large-scale sculptures and temporary installations for ALLIED, focuses on their ability to transform the urban landscape. This initiative goes beyond mere aesthetic adjustments; it aims to explore new social archetypes and digital languages. The project delves into two main areas: the rationalized use of orthogonal diagrams and the reinterpretation of the Miesian box. Through these lenses, ALLIED seeks to engage with architectures and environments in different and innovative ways, prompting users to reconsider their relationships with space, structure, and community.
ALLIED/MEXICO’s intervention plan includes five temporary installations in four historic locations in Mexico City.
